I had quite a conversation with the shopkeeper who sold me this bag. Ended up with all the other people in the shop joining in to give their opinion. Is it old? It certainly looks it
Is it handmade? We pretty much agreed it was howbeit in a factory.
Was it deliberately made to look old? Yes. Look at the antiqued bronze frame, the aged color of the satin, the embroidered flowers that look like they came from your grandmother's estate and the aged chain that tucks neatly into the bag and looks ancient.
What did we decide? Unfortunately the tag inside put finish to the discussion. The satin is polyester satin and the bag was made in India for export to Canada.
It is still a great bag. The dusty rose color with the sort of antique turquoise embroidery and pink sequins and black and rose beads all add to the aged look.
The bag has a plain satin back, edges done in tiny pink beads, a kiss closure and the tuckable chain that is long enough to wear on the shoulder fitting just at the bustline. It is lightly padded with extra re-enforcement in the bottom half.
The bag is 5 x 11 inches and in very good possibly unused condition. This is a bag to be carried when wearing a sari or by those who have the funky flair to combine unusual pieces.
